This space is dedicated to the magic of poetry. A collaboration between two inspired writers, wanting to dive into the art of writing poetry.
Every month, around the full moon, Carla and Danielle will each share a poem inspired by the same prompt for that month. Prompts are written and chosen by Danielle and Carla as well.
This Month's Prompt: The Journey Within
Write about what it feels like as you drop into your heart space.
Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to truly drop into your heart space? Two poets. Two perspectives. One intimate journey...
Danielle's Poem: The Soul Train
It's like entering a high speed train
I take a couple steps to get on
Searching for a comfy seat
I stow away my baggage in a compartment above
I take out something to read to fill my mind
With beauty, pleasure, and Life
As the train leaves the station, I look out the window
Finding the beauty in the blurred scenery
Soaking in its beauty
As the train gets faster,
I sink into my Soul a little more
Spending time with her for the fast ride
My heart space expands as I experience the world
My heart grows for the stories I am told
My heart grows for the spaces that I need to hold
My Soul travels at high speeds
Speeding to catch up with the flow of
Life to jump into frequency
My heart space expands, hugging everything around her
As the train slows to arrive at the next station,
Wisps of energy swirl around my heart
Leaving the expansive space with my body for a short while
Until my next fast ride
Carla's Poem: The Whispers of the Heart
The yoga teacher says…
The calming voice on the meditation app humms…
Breathe in
1-2-3-4
hold
1-2-3-4-5-6-7
Exhale through your mouth
1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8
And drop into your heart space
I can feel my hand automatically drawn to my heart
Like if I don’t touch it, I wouldn’t know where it was
My eyes are closed, but I can feel them searching for that space in my chest
Life if they don’t see it, it doesn’t exist
I can feel this ball of energy, like a ball of yellow light searching to enter the crevice of that space, to hold it, to light it up
But it’s like my pt said as she was doing her work on my body, your heart wants me to stop right here…
It says woah too fast, too much
Slow down
It whispers, i thought you forgot about me,
Where have you been?
I can feel the longing
The desire
The hesitation
The wonder
She wants to be held, like an anchor sunk into the sea bed
She wants to be seen, with the wonder and awe of seeing a magnificent mountain for the first time and the familiarity and love of coming home
She wants to be known, like a worn book that you’ve read so many times you don’t even need the book anymore, but you hold it for how it feels
She wants to be trusted, that even when it doesn’t make any sense, you know, she knows
She feels it this time though
Something different
You’re not leaving
You’re not running away
You know it’s been too long
You’re curious
You’re longing too
And she lets you in just a little more
Like your hand sinks a little deeper, holds a little longer
Your sight, your eyes, they hold the gaze with wonder and awe
And the ball of energy weaves and wraps around through, not pushing, not changing, but learning, holding, intertwining in a way that won’t even let go
It’s like dropping into your heart space
